Outboard, dinghies and paddling
Before the trip to Dunkirk this year, there was quite a bit of thought about replacing the rather elderly rubber dinghy on ‘Cachalot’.
Having lost the electric outboard at the Southwold Rally last year we needed a replacement, ideally to fit both the rubber dinghy and ‘Cachalette’.

Instead of a new Torqeedo, we decided to get an ePropulsion eLite model. It’s cheaper, smaller and lighter but has a shorter range. Steve took it to Dunkirk with the rubber dinghy and didn’t need to use it. Going ashore during the Summer Cruise, it just stopped working leaving him to row ashore with Tim. After having it serviced, we’ve tested it with ‘Cachalette’ as well. Verdict: it’s fine with both boats, no need to get a new dinghy for ‘Cachalot’!
